When referencing the concept of
‘dialogicality’ Mikhail Bahktin (1895 – 1975) coined the term “A Third Voice in
a conversation between two”. We at Third Voice Studio believe that the process
of architecture is a ‘Third Voice’ in a conversation between two - the client,
or architectural brief; and the site, or space.
It is our philosophy that the interconnection of these three elements; when a thorough process of analysis, collaborative work philosophies and integrity of design is explored, the soul of a place is created.
Third Voice offers design solutions to the built environment; through an interactive and collaborative approach of process and review with all parties design process successful architecture lives and breathes. It responds integrally to occupants’ needs and feelings. Through challenging best practice work philosophies, sustainable materials and the environment, and an empathy for the needs of our clients, third voice delivers spaces that enliven the spirit, and centre the soul.
Sustainability of built form is paramount to the lifespan of a building, both in time and functionality. We encourage when viable the use of low embodied energy materials in building construction and balance the immediate costs of materials and form against the ongoing sustainability cost to inform our clients of best practice solutions.
